Attributes
Rosehip oil is extracted from Rosa aff. rubiginosa, a delicate rose which grows wild on the high mountains in Chile, and which is known locally as Rosa mosqueta. It is a very popular, refined, all-purpose carrier oil used by manufacturers (particularly as a conditioning agent in hair care products), aromatherapists and massage therapists.
Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids, namely 13.5 – 19.0% oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid), 39.0 – 55% linoleic acid (an omega-6 essential fatty acid), and 20.0 – 35% alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 essential fatty acid). Rosehip oil also contains natural Tretinoin or Retinoic Acid (a Vitamin A derivative), which replenishes and helps rebuild skin tissue.
The unique properties of Rosehip oil were discovered through scientific studies conducted at the Universities of Concepcion (Chile) and Missouri (USA). These studies showed that application of the oil effectively helped in attenuating scars, wrinkles and stretch marks; in preventing premature ageing and in regaining natural colour and tone.
Rosehip oil is expensive and is usually blended in a small (often 10%) dilution with other carrier oils. Despite the oil being a natural source of the antioxidant Vitamin C (a water-soluble vitamin) and Vitamin E (fat-soluble), the oil itself goes rancid rather quickly. This is the reason we do not downsize into smaller bottles and only supply in big drum size of 23 kgs.
Rosehip oil offers ease of spreading, great penetration and significant moisture retention. It is very effective in halting and even reversing the effects of solar radiation on the skin. In general, it is useful in all kinds of cell regeneration face treatments, pore reduction and acne treatments. The oil may be applied directly to the skin and hair. It may also be easily incorporated as an active ingredient or an ideal carrier in skin and hair care products. It is ideally suited for anti-wrinkle and sun care products. The recommended dosage is between 3 and 10%.

Dilution Guidelines for Essential Oils
The use of pure essential oils on the skin without dilution is not recommended. It is imperative that you first dilute them in a carrier oil before applying them to your skin.
Dilution ratios can be found in the guidelines below, an essential oil book, or another professional resource.
